Here we are, fresh into 2025."The future is here," this saying resonates increasingly as each day goes by. Artificial intelligence has taken the creative world by storm and made the fine line of artistic expression even thinner. So, where does that leave Pickedfromdagarden? Good question.
For the last 5 years, I have taken on the challenge of producing the majority of apparel sold in-house. I complete garments via embroidery, screen printing, & direct-to-garment printing for Pickedfromdagarden by myself and under one roof. I've learned many things along my 5-year journey. Pickedfromdagarden has celebrated many victories and experienced many losses.
Overall, I've learned there is only so much you can do with a blank garment. A blank garment is just a canvas like any blank piece of paper, whether a t-shirt, a hoodie, or a pair of pants. The methods by which I completed that garment were limited. I concluded it was time to learn a new skill that would change my perspective on manufacturing apparel.
The method I am speaking of is commonly known as "cut & sew." To cut & sew is to cut fabric/fabrics and sew them to make a new canvas or add to an existing canvas. Adding this art form to the specialties Pickedfromdagarden already uses will complete the extra dimension of creativity I believe it needs.
To continue keeping the manufacturing an in-house process, I am dedicating most of this year to mastering a sewing machine & learning to include that much-needed skill into my other methods of apparel manufacturing. Within this period, all existing Pickedfromdagarden apparel & products will still be available to its supporters. Overall, the goal and objective of these actions are to push Pickedfromdagarden beyond the expectations of ordinary streetwear apparel. Creating something more unique and everlasting is more valuable to this brand than producing fast fashion.
